We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support students with SEMH needs.

The successful candidate will work closely with staff and students to create a nurturing learning environment, providing one-on-one or small group support sessions to help students develop emotional regulation and self-care techniques.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and implementation of education plans for students with mental health concerns.
  • Monitor students' progress and communicate effectively with teachers regarding this.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all relevant privacy and safeguarding laws and regulations.
  • Support teachers in managing the behaviour and specialist needs of the young people.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children or adolescents in an educational or mental health setting.
  • Strong understanding of mental health issues affecting students, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, and trauma.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and staff.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle crisis situations effectively.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying informed about best practices in mental health support for students.
  • Ability to demonstrate a clear understanding of child safeguarding and ability to respond to such concerns effectively and efficiently.
