Job Summary

Location: Adult Mental Health Inpatient Services

Hours: Up to 37.5 hours per week

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Peer Support Worker to join our Discharge Mental Health Team. As a Peer Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with mental health needs to achieve their recovery goals.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide peer support and practical assistance to service users and their carers to empower them to regain control over their lives and build connections with their local communities.
  • Work across the adult inpatient pathway, and VCSE, supporting service users to transition between services.
  • Act as a recovery champion across mental health services pathways and act as an ambassador of recovery for the Trust with external agencies and partner organisations.
  • Participate in the on-going development of the role and contribute to the evaluation of the PSW training programme.

Requirements:

  • Lived experience of using mental health services.
  • Previous care experience with people who have mental health difficulties.
  • Basic IT skills and ability to manage time and plan work.
  • Ability to work in a team effectively and take leadership and direction from qualified staff.
