Job Title: Principal Nuclear Safety Specialist
At Babcock International Group, we're working to create a safe and secure world, together. As a Principal Nuclear Safety Specialist, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the safety of our nuclear operations.
The Role
As a Principal Nuclear Safety Specialist, you'll be responsible for conducting independent peer reviews of safety documents and policy, methodology, strategy, and guidance documents. You'll also manage the conduct of consultants subcontracted for the execution of external peer reviews as lead assessor.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct independent peer reviews of safety documents and policy, methodology, strategy, and guidance documents.
- Manage the conduct of consultants subcontracted for the execution of external peer reviews as lead assessor.
- Assist in formulating IPR strategy and policy to address emergent issues.
- Prepare peer review reports to the required standards and timescales.
Requirements
- General experience of safety-related engineering in a high-hazard industry.
- Significant experience in the conduct of safety analysis, ideally in a through-life support environment.
- Experience in the development, management, and analysis of fault schedules and the derivation of safety functional requirements.
- Experience of authoring safety case claims, arguments, and evidence to demonstrate how risks are being managed and controlled.
Qualifications
- Degree in an appropriate scientific or engineering discipline.
- Chartered accreditation by an appropriate professional institution.
- NUC Nuclear Plant Foundation Course Module 1 (or equivalent).
- NUC Nuclear Fundamentals (Foundation) Course Module 2 (or equivalent).
- NUC Introduction to Safety Engineering.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
