Job Title: Principal Nuclear Safety Assessor

At Babcock International Group, we're working to create a safe and secure world, together. As a Principal Nuclear Safety Assessor, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the safety of our nuclear operations.

The Role

As a Principal Nuclear Safety Assessor, you'll be responsible for conducting independent peer reviews of safety documents and policy, methodology, strategy, and guidance documents. You'll also present findings to the Nuclear Safety Committee and manage the conduct of consultants subcontracted for external peer reviews.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct independent peer reviews of safety documents and policy, methodology, strategy, and guidance documents
  • Present findings to the Nuclear Safety Committee
  • Manage the conduct of consultants subcontracted for external peer reviews
  • Assist in formulating IPR strategy and policy to address emergent issues
  • Prepare peer review reports to required standards and timescales

Requirements

  • General experience of safety-related engineering in a high-hazard industry
  • Significant experience in the conduct of safety analysis, ideally in a through-life support environment
  • Experience in the development, management, and analysis of fault schedules and the derivation of safety functional requirements
  • Experience of authoring safety case claims, arguments, and evidence to demonstrate how risks are being managed and controlled
  • Degree in an appropriate scientific or engineering discipline
  • Chartered accreditation by an appropriate professional institution
