Research Assistant/Associate Opportunity
We are seeking a highly motivated and organized researcher to join our team at Imperial College London. The successful candidate will have a strong background in computational genomics and a passion for understanding the complexities of Parkinson's disease.
About the Role
The Research Assistant/Associate will be responsible for leading one or more projects characterizing the relationship between brain and blood cell types to interpret Parkinson's disease susceptibility and its various clinical presentations. This will involve working with next-generation sequencing data from patient-derived brain tissue and blood to identify cells and signalling pathways dysregulated in Parkinson's disease.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead one or more projects characterizing the relationship between brain and blood cell types to interpret Parkinson's disease susceptibility and its various clinical presentations.
- Work with next-generation sequencing data from patient-derived brain tissue and blood to identify cells and signalling pathways dysregulated in Parkinson's disease.
- Collaborate with various research groups within the Dementia Research Institute and Imperial's Department of Brain Sciences.
- Develop skills in emerging computational approaches and continue your career at a world-leading institution.
Requirements
- Relevant MSc in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Mathematics, or a closely related discipline.
- Practical experience within a research environment and/or publication in relevant and refereed journals.
- Experience with high-performance computing environments.
- Proficiency with a broad range of bioinformatics tools and databases.
- Background knowledge of neuroscience, biological sciences, or a closely related discipline.
- Background knowledge of the immune system.
