PhD Researcher in Genomics and Bioinformatics
4 weeks ago
About the Role
The successful candidate will be based at the Royal Free Hospital campus of UCL, working on a project to understand the molecular basis of steroid-sensitive nephrotic syndrome (SSNS), a prevalent kidney disease in children, especially among Asian populations.
Using advanced genomic technologies, the research aims to identify genetic variations associated with SSNS to develop targeted treatments with fewer side effects.
The main duties of the candidate will include conducting original research related to the project, participating in data generation and quality assessment, analyzing large-scale biological datasets using bioinformatics tools, and developing and maintaining analysis pipelines for genomic data.
They will also record, analyze, and write up experimental results, prepare and present research findings to colleagues, contribute to drafting and submitting papers to peer-reviewed journals, present research at conferences, and mentor undergraduate students.
About You
The studentship is suitable for someone who has recently completed a Masters' degree in genetics, genomics, and bioinformatics, with good knowledge of data analysis and programming.
What We Offer
This is an exciting opportunity to join a multidisciplinary team working across the Department of Renal Medicine and the Division of Medicine.
