Our team at the Met Office is dedicated to making a positive impact on the environment and society through cutting-edge research and development. We are currently seeking an exceptional Senior Climate Mitigation Scientist to join our ranks.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in climate and earth system science, with expertise in using climate models for assessments of climate impacts and projections. Experience in developing and applying simple climate models, such as the FaIR Simple Climate Model, is highly desirable. In this role, you will lead the development, use, and application of climate models to deliver high-impact policy-relevant climate science. You will also contribute to international activities, such as supporting IPCC projections, and provide expert advice and support to UK Government departments.

We offer a total reward package up to £57,639 annually, including £41,725 base pay, an outstanding Civil Service pension, and annual leave starting at 27.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) rising to 32.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) after 5 years.
