PhD Researcher: Multi-material Inkjet Printing for Functional Structures and Electronics

Join our team at the University of Nottingham's Centre for Additive Manufacturing (CfAM) as a PhD student and contribute to the development of multi-material inkjet printing techniques for functional structures and electronics. This exciting opportunity will allow you to work with leading experts in the field and gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge equipment.
About the ProjectThis PhD studentship will focus on scaling up multi-material inkjet printing for advanced materials and electronics. You will work on developing new materials and techniques to control the 3D distribution of functional materials, achieving high-resolution control over graded properties and chemistries. The project will take advantage of unique leading-edge multi-material inkjet 3D printing equipment available at CfAM.
Key Responsibilities- Develop control over the bonding at interfaces between materials and layers
- Investigate the mechanical and chemical properties of multi-material inkjet printed materials
- Design and develop new materials and techniques for multi-material inkjet printing
- Characterise the properties of multi-material inkjet printed structures and electronics
- Master's degree in a relevant field (Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Physical Sciences)
- Strong background in materials sciences and/or digital design
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Full-time PhD studentship with a stipend and tuition fees covered
