We are seeking a highly motivated PhD student to join our team at the University of Nottingham's Centre for Additive Manufacturing (CfAM) to develop new materials, methods, and designs for controlling the 3D distribution of functional materials.
Project OverviewIn this PhD studentship, you will work on developing the materials, methods, and designs to control the 3D distribution of differing functional materials, giving high-resolution control over graded properties, graded chemistries, and 3D-integrated components. You will have access to unique leading-edge multi-material inkjet 3D printing equipment, only available at CfAM, and will perform hands-on research in world-class laboratory facilities with leading experts in development of materials, techniques, and characterisation methods for functional 3D printing.
Key Responsibilities- Develop new materials and methods for controlling the 3D distribution of functional materials
- Design and develop new 3D printing techniques for functional structures and electronics
- Characterise and test the properties of 3D printed materials and structures
- Collaborate with the research team to develop new applications for 3D printing
- Master's degree in a relevant field (Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physical Sciences)
- Strong background in materials sciences and/or digital design
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
