Nottingham, Nottingham, United Kingdom University of Nottingham Full time

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated PhD researcher to join our team at the University of Nottingham's Centre for Additive Manufacturing (CfAM). The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a cutting-edge project that involves developing new materials, methods, and designs for multi-material inkjet 3D printing.

About the Project

The PhD project will focus on leveraging the capabilities of multi-material inkjet 3D printing to create functional structures and electronics. The researcher will work on developing the materials, methods, and designs necessary to control the 3D distribution of differing functional materials, giving high-resolution control over graded properties, chemistries, and 3D-integrated components.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop control over the bonding at interfaces between materials and layers
  • Design and develop new materials and methods for multi-material inkjet 3D printing
  • Characterize and test the properties of printed materials and structures
  • Collaborate with the research team to achieve project goals

Requirements

  • Master's degree in a relevant field (Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physical Sciences)
  • Strong background in materials sciences and/or digital design
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

What We Offer

  • Opportunity to work on a cutting-edge project with a leading research team
  • Access to state-of-the-art equipment and facilities
  • Collaborative and dynamic work environment
  • Professional development opportunities

Eligibility

  • Due to funding restrictions, the position is only available for UK candidates
  • Candidates must possess or expect to obtain a 2:1 or first-class degree in a relevant field
