Primary Care Transformation and Oversight Director

We are seeking a dynamic leader to join our team as the Primary Care Transformation and Oversight Director. This role will have a strong interface and line management responsibility for the other Assistant Directors, as the role is a key enabler to many of the transformational projects within the portfolio.

The Primary Care Transformation and Oversight Director will have a direct reporting line to the Regional Director for Primary Care and Public Health commissioning. The Director will need to provide line of sight on programme and project delivery across our portfolio, and will need to think and act strategically and proactively to ensure the broad portfolio of programmes remain aligned and silos in delivery are minimised.

Main duties of the job

Primary Care commissioning assurance:

  • Lead the assurance function for Primary Care commissioning activities, both retained and delegated, putting in place effective mitigation and action to address risks, issues and concerns.
  • Lead the development of the INP data strategy to improve regional and ICB oversight on project delivery and outcomes, and decision-making capabilities at all levels of the organisation.

Team development and relationship management:

  • Contribute to the development of the business of NHS Employers and business development opportunities as they arise.
  • Ensure team activity fits within the strategic direction of the organisation and the priorities outlined in the business plan and aligns to the organisational values.

Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in-person.

Person Specification
  • Educated to Masters level in a relevant area of academic practice or equivalent experience working at a commensurate band / level.
  • Additional management or specialist qualifications at post graduate level or equivalent level of experience.
  • To have one or more of the below programme /project management qualifications or equivalent level of experience: o Managing Successful Programmes Practitioner. o APM Registered Project Professional. o Major Projects Leadership Academy.
Experience
  • Able to negotiate on difficult and highly contentious issues including performance and change.
  • Must understand the background to and aims of current healthcare policy and appreciate the implications of this across the wider health and social care.
