About the Role

Fife College is seeking a skilled Vocational Learning and Assessment Officer to join our dynamic Healthcare Academy, SVQ team. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in assessing candidates at SCQF Levels 5 to 9, providing crucial support and advice to candidates to help them gather and present a portfolio that meets the performance criteria and evidence requirements of their vocational qualifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Induction and Training: Provide comprehensive induction and training to new team members, ensuring they are equipped to deliver high-quality vocational learning and assessment services.
  • Assessment Design and Execution: Design and execute assessments that meet the needs of candidates and industry standards, ensuring the integrity and quality of the assessment process.
  • Mentorship and Support: Offer guidance and support to candidates, employers, and colleagues to help them navigate the vocational learning and assessment process.
  • Record Keeping & Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of candidate progress, assessment results, and other relevant data, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Quality Assurance and Compliance: Ensure that all vocational learning and assessment activities are conducted in accordance with industry best practice, regulatory requirements, and Fife College's quality assurance policies.
  • Industry Engagement and Partnership: Foster strong relationships with industry partners, employers, and other stakeholders to ensure that vocational learning and assessment services meet the needs of the sector.
  • Professional Development and Networking: Stay up-to-date with industry developments, best practices, and regulatory requirements, and participate in professional networks to enhance your skills and knowledge.
  • Contribution to Curriculum Teams: Collaborate with curriculum teams to develop and improve vocational learning programs, ensuring they align with industry standards and best practice.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Essential:
    • SVQ Level 4 in the relevant vocational area or equivalent qualifications as laid down by the relevant awarding bodies and requirements of the industry.
    • Be prepared to work towards possession of Assessor and Verifier awards.
  • Desirable:
    • Assessor / Verifier awards.
