Responsibilities:
  • Conduct an initial assessment of the scope and technical specifications of the tender inquiry package. Inform senior management of any notable commercial, technical, or contractual risks linked to the inquiry. These risks will be documented and reviewed to ensure mitigation prior to client submission. Maintain communication with the client throughout the bidding process to clarify requirements before drafting and submitting the proposal.
  • Prepare precise and competitive labor and material cost estimates using the estimating software and cost sheets. This may involve acquiring pricing from subcontractors or suppliers.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to gather relevant technical details, clarify requirements, obtain estimates, and agree on the proposed solution.
  • Organize and participate in internal technical reviews of proposal costings.
  • After the cost review, create a high-quality and professional technical proposal document. Ensure that the tender proposal is clear, unambiguous, and safeguards the company's commercial interests. Clearly identify and document design responsibilities and deliverable requirements in the technical proposal.
  • Attend site visits and review meetings with clients as necessary.
  • Ensure timely follow-up on proposals with clients, recording this in the CRM system (including expected order dates and competitive positioning). This will also involve updating the Key Account Manager on the status of the bid as needed.
  • Participate in an internal kick-off meeting with the project team if the tender is successful.
  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives, innovation, and the development of estimating tools.
Required Qualifications:

NVQ Level 3 in a relevant discipline or equivalent.

Educational Background:

Degree in Engineering or a related field.

Experience:

A minimum of 3 years in a similar position.

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Familiarity with PLC Control Systems and Telemetry Systems (consideration for junior candidates will be given).
  • Experience in project estimation and bid preparation.
  • Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Capability to work effectively within a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:

Professional certification in Control Systems Engineering.

Work Environment:

This is an office-based role with occasional site visits required. Standard working hours apply, with potential overtime during project deadlines.
