Responsibilities:
  • Conduct an initial assessment of the scope and technical specifications of the tender inquiry package. Inform senior management of any significant commercial, technical, or contractual risks associated with the inquiry, which will be documented and reviewed prior to client submission. Maintain communication with the client throughout the bidding process to clarify requirements before drafting and submitting the proposal.
  • Prepare precise and competitive labor and material cost estimates using the estimating software and cost sheets, which may involve sourcing sub-contractor or supplier pricing.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to gather relevant technical information, clarify requirements, obtain estimates, and agree on the proposed solution.
  • Coordinate and participate in the internal technical review of proposal costings.
  • After the cost review, produce a high-quality and professional technical proposal document. Ensure that the tender proposal is clear, unambiguous, and safeguards the company's commercial interests. Clearly identify and document design responsibilities and deliverable requirements in the technical proposal.
  • Participate in site visits and review meetings with clients as necessary.
  • Ensure timely follow-up on proposals with clients at agreed intervals, documenting this in the CRM system (including expected order dates and competitive positioning). Update the Key Account Manager on the status of the bid as required.
  • Attend an internal kick-off meeting with the project team if the tender is successful.
  • Engage in continuous improvement, innovation, and development of estimating tools.
Required Qualifications:

NVQ Level 3 in a relevant field or equivalent.

Education:

Degree in Engineering or a related discipline.

Experience:

A minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar position.

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Familiarity with PLC Control Systems and Telemetry Systems (junior candidates may be considered).
  • Experience in project estimation and the preparation of bids and tenders.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:

Professional certification in Control Systems Engineering.

Working Conditions:

This is an office-based role with occasional site visits required. Standard working hours apply, with potential for overtime during project deadlines.
