Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct a thorough initial assessment of the scope and technical specifications of the tender inquiry package. Communicate significant commercial, technical, or contractual risks to the senior management team for documentation and mitigation prior to client submission. Maintain communication with the client throughout the bidding process to clarify requirements before drafting and submitting the proposal.
  • Prepare precise and competitive labor and material cost estimates using the estimating software and cost sheets, which may involve obtaining pricing from subcontractors or suppliers.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to gather relevant technical data, clarify requirements, obtain estimates, and agree on the proposed solutions.
  • Organize and participate in internal technical reviews of proposal costings.
  • Post-cost review, develop a high-quality and professional technical proposal document. Ensure the tender proposal is clear, unambiguous, and safeguards the company's commercial interests. Clearly identify and document design responsibilities and deliverable requirements in the technical proposal.
  • Participate in site visits and review meetings with clients as necessary.
  • Ensure timely follow-up on proposals with clients, recording updates in the CRM system (including expected order dates and competitive positioning). This will involve updating the Key Account Manager on the status of the bid as needed.
  • Attend internal kick-off meetings with the project team if the tender is successful.
  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives, innovation, and the development of estimating tools.
Required Qualifications:

NVQ Level 3 in a relevant discipline or equivalent.

Educational Background:

Degree in Engineering or a related field.

Experience:

A minimum of 3 years' experience in a comparable role.

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Comprehension of PLC Control Systems and Telemetry Systems (consideration for junior candidates will be given).
  • Experience in project estimation and the preparation of bids and tenders.
  • Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Capability to work effectively within a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:

Professional certification in Control Systems Engineering.

Work Environment:

This is an office-based role with occasional site visits required. Standard working hours apply, with potential overtime during project deadlines.
