Expertise in PLC Control Systems, Telemetry Systems, Project Estimation, and Bid Preparation

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct an initial assessment of the scope and technical specifications of the tender inquiry package. Inform senior management of any notable commercial, technical, or contractual risks associated with the inquiry, which will be documented and reviewed prior to client submission. Engage with clients throughout the bidding process to clarify requirements before drafting and submitting the proposal.
  • Prepare precise and competitive labor and material cost estimates using the estimating software and cost sheets, which may involve sourcing pricing from subcontractors or suppliers.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to gather relevant technical data, clarify requirements, obtain estimates, and agree on the proposed solutions.
  • Organize and participate in internal technical reviews of proposal costings.
  • Post-cost review, create a high-quality and professional technical proposal document. Ensure that the tender proposal is clear, unambiguous, and safeguards the company's commercial interests. Clearly identify and document design responsibilities and deliverable requirements in the technical proposal.
  • Attend site visits and client review meetings as necessary.
  • Ensure timely follow-up on proposals with clients, recording updates in the CRM system (including expected order dates and competitive positioning). This includes keeping the Key Account Manager informed about the status of the bid, as needed.
  • Participate in an internal kick-off meeting with the project team if the tender is successful.
  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives, innovation, and the development of estimating tools.
Required Qualifications:

NVQ Level 3 in a relevant discipline or equivalent.

Educational Background:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.

Experience:

A minimum of 3 years in a similar position.

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Familiarity with PLC Control Systems and Telemetry Systems (junior candidates may be considered).
  • Experience in project estimation and the preparation of bids and tenders.
  • Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Capability to work effectively within a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:

Professional certification in Control Systems Engineering.

Work Environment:

This is an office-based role with occasional site visits required. Standard working hours apply, with potential overtime during project deadlines.
