Essential Skills:

PLC Control Systems, Telemetry Systems, Project Estimation, Bids and Tenders

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct an initial assessment of the scope and technical specifications of the tender inquiry package. Inform senior management of any notable commercial, technical, or contractual risks linked to the inquiry. These will be documented and reviewed/mitigated prior to client submission. Engage with the client throughout the bidding process to clarify requirements before drafting and submitting the proposal.
  • Prepare precise and competitive labor and material cost estimates using the estimating software/cost sheets. This may involve sourcing sub-contractor/supplier pricing.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to gather relevant technical details, clarify requirements, obtain estimates, and agree on the proposed solution.
  • Organize and participate in the internal technical review of the proposal costings.
  • Post-cost review, create a high-quality and professional technical proposal document. Ensure that the tender proposal is clear, unambiguous, and safeguards the company's commercial interests. The design responsibilities and deliverable requirements will be distinctly identified and documented in the technical proposal.
  • Participate in site visits and review meetings with clients as necessary.
  • Ensure that proposals are followed up at agreed intervals with clients, recording this in the CRM (such as expected order date, competitive position, etc.). This will include updating the Key Account Manager on the status of the bid, as needed.
  • Attend an internal kick-off meeting with the project team if the tender is successful.
  • Engage in continuous improvement, innovation, and estimating tool development.
Required Qualifications:

NVQ Level 3 in a relevant field or equivalent.

Education:

Degree in Engineering or a related field.

Experience:

Minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar position.

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Understanding of PLC Control Systems and Telemetry Systems (junior candidates may be considered).
  • Experience in project estimation and preparing bids and tenders.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Capability to work effectively within a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:

Professional certification in Control Systems Engineering.

Working Conditions:

This is an office-based role with occasional site visits required. Standard working hours apply, with potential for overtime during project deadlines.
