Responsibilities:
  • Conduct a thorough initial assessment of the scope and technical specifications of the tender inquiry package. Inform the senior management team and document any significant commercial, technical, or contractual risks associated with the inquiry. These risks will be recorded and addressed prior to client submission. Maintain communication with the client throughout the bidding process to clarify requirements before drafting and submitting the proposal.
  • Prepare precise and competitive labor and material cost estimates using the estimating software and cost sheets. This may involve obtaining pricing from subcontractors or suppliers.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to gather relevant technical information, clarify requirements, obtain estimates, and agree on the proposed solution.
  • Organize and participate in the internal technical review of the proposal cost estimates.
  • After the cost review, create a high-quality and professional technical proposal document. Ensure that the tender proposal is clear, unambiguous, and safeguards the company's commercial interests. Clearly identify and document the design responsibilities and deliverable requirements in the technical proposal.
  • Attend site visits and review meetings with clients as necessary.
  • Ensure that proposals are followed up at agreed intervals with clients, recording this in the CRM system (including expected order dates, competitive positioning, etc.). This will include updating the Key Account Manager on the status of the bid as needed.
  • Participate in an internal kick-off meeting with the project team if the tender is successful.
  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives, innovation, and development of estimating tools.
Required Qualifications:

NVQ Level 3 in a relevant discipline or equivalent.

Educational Background:

Degree in Engineering or a related field.

Experience:

At least 3 years of experience in a similar position.

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Familiarity with PLC Control Systems and Telemetry Systems (junior candidates may be considered).
  • Experience in project estimation and preparing bids and tenders.
  • Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Capability to work effectively within a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:

Professional certification in Control Systems Engineering.

Working Environment:

This is an office-based role with occasional site visits required. Standard working hours apply, with potential for overtime during project deadlines.
