Expertise in PLC Control Systems, Telemetry Systems, Project Estimation, and Bid Preparation

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct a thorough analysis of the scope and technical specifications of the tender inquiry package. Communicate significant commercial, technical, or contractual risks to the senior management team, ensuring these are documented and addressed prior to client submission. Maintain communication with clients throughout the bidding process to clarify requirements before drafting and submitting proposals.
  • Prepare precise and competitive labor and material cost estimates using estimating software and cost sheets, which may involve sourcing pricing from subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to gather necessary technical information, clarify project requirements, obtain estimates, and finalize the proposed solutions.
  • Organize and participate in internal technical reviews of proposal costings.
  • After cost reviews, create a high-quality, professional technical proposal document. Ensure that the tender proposal is clear, unambiguous, and safeguards the company's commercial interests. Clearly identify and document design responsibilities and deliverable requirements within the technical proposal.
  • Attend site visits and client review meetings as necessary.
  • Ensure timely follow-up on proposals with clients, recording interactions in the CRM system (including expected order dates and competitive positioning). Update the Key Account Manager on the status of bids as required.
  • Participate in an internal kick-off meeting with the project team if the tender is successful.
  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives, innovation, and development of estimating tools.
Required Qualifications:

NVQ Level 3 in a relevant discipline or equivalent.

Educational Background:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.

Experience:

A minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar capacity.

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Comprehensive understanding of PLC Control Systems and Telemetry Systems (Junior candidates may be considered).
  • Experience in project estimation and the preparation of bids and tenders.
  • Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Capability to work effectively within a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:

Professional certification in Control Systems Engineering.

Working Environment:

This is an office-based role with occasional site visits required. Standard working hours apply, with potential overtime during project deadlines.
