Position Overview

As a vital member of the Parking Appeals and Representations unit, you will ensure the provision of a prompt and efficient service for the Parking and Network Management division, as well as the broader council. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain a consistently high standard of work, leveraging their expertise and judgment to evaluate evidence in various cases, including Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs), parking permits, and parking control suspensions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver timely and effective service in handling parking appeals and representations.
  • Assess evidence and make informed decisions regarding parking enforcement matters.
  • Contribute to the council's strategic objectives related to Climate Change, Air Quality, and Community Mobility.


Essential Qualifications

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Familiarity with civil parking and traffic enforcement laws, as well as adjudication processes.
• Understanding of the operational procedures for enforcing parking and traffic penalties.
• Demonstrated experience in customer service or administrative roles, including formal correspondence.
• Proficient in data analysis for investigations and decision-making using various computer systems and databases.
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively with contractors and officers in a penalty charge notice enforcement context to ensure high-quality customer service.
• Capacity to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines amidst competing demands with creativity and enthusiasm.
• Ability to work autonomously to achieve established work plans and performance targets.
• Competence in managing diverse correspondence and preparing written responses and reports.
• Strong interpersonal skills to represent the parking team effectively across all organizational levels.
• Excellent customer service capabilities, with confidence in delivering quality outcomes through both written and verbal communication.
• Skill in diffusing challenging situations and resolving conflicts effectively.
