Position: Support Assistant (Fixed Term)

Salary Range: £10.17 - £10.82

We are looking to recruit two dedicated Support Assistants who possess the necessary personal attributes and skills to become integral members of our educational team. The primary responsibility will be to enhance the health and wellbeing of secondary school students facing severe and complex additional support needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist students during break and lunchtime with eating and drinking.
  • Engage in activities before, during, and after breaks, including providing intimate personal care.
  • Offer general auxiliary support within the school environment.

Each position requires a commitment of 20 hours per week over 38 weeks per year, with a schedule of 4 hours per day, Monday to Friday, during term time.

These roles are fixed-term for a duration of up to one year.

This position may be appropriate for secondment; however, prior approval from your line manager is necessary before applying.

The ideal candidates will have experience working with children and young individuals, possess at least Standard Grades in English and Maths (or equivalent), and demonstrate the ability to foster positive relationships with young people.

Experience in supporting children or young people with additional support needs is highly desirable. A willingness to participate in training is essential. The organization caters to secondary-aged students with a variety of severe and complex needs, thus requiring support for pupils with diverse challenges, including communication difficulties, autism, visual impairments, and physical disabilities.

This role is classified as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act. Candidates selected for this position will need to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to receiving a formal employment offer.
