Job Summary:
The Student Success Guide is a key role at the Commonwealth of Virginia, responsible for connecting students with academic and non-academic programs and services. As a Student Success Guide, you will serve as a friendly and accessible conduit to support services, raising student awareness and promoting retention and belonging.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain extensive knowledge of NOVA programs and support services, as well as community services
- Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders to promote student success
- Respond to student requests and track outcomes, utilizing data to inform decision-making
- Collaborate with colleagues to promote a student-centered environment and solve problems using analytical and critical thinking skills
- Multi-task in a fast-paced student environment, prioritizing tasks and managing time effectively
Requirements:
- Experience in an educational setting, preferably in customer service or student life
- Experience in workshop and/or event planning, with a focus on student engagement
- Experience working collaboratively with support services, with a strong understanding of student retention strategies
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with experience in data management and analysis
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in higher education, college student life, or non-profit services, with a focus on student support
- Experience in using social media to promote awareness of products or services, with a focus on student engagement
