Job Overview

Position: Support Assistant (Fixed Term)

Salary: £10.17 - £10.82 per hour

We are looking to recruit two dedicated Support Assistants who possess the right personal attributes and skills to become integral members of our educational team. Your primary responsibility will be to assist in the health and wellbeing of secondary school students with significant and complex additional support requirements.

The role encompasses:

  • Providing support to students during breaks and lunchtime, including assistance with eating and drinking.
  • Engaging with students in various activities before, during, and after break and lunch periods.
  • Delivering general auxiliary support throughout the school environment.

Both positions are part-time, requiring 20 hours of work per week across 38 weeks of the academic year, specifically 4 hours per day from Monday to Friday during term time.

These roles are fixed-term for a duration of up to one year.

Note: These positions may be suitable for secondment; however, prior approval from your line manager is necessary before applying.

The ideal candidates will have:

  • Experience working with children and young individuals.
  • Minimum qualifications of English and Maths Standard Grades (or equivalent).
  • A proven ability to foster positive relationships with young people.

Experience in supporting children or young people with additional needs is highly desirable. A commitment to undertake further training is essential. The organization provides educational services to secondary-aged students with severe and complex needs, requiring support for a diverse range of challenges, including communication difficulties, autism spectrum disorders, visual impairments, and physical disabilities.

This role is classified as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children, in accordance with the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act. Candidates selected for this position will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to receiving a formal job offer.
