London, Greater London, United Kingdom Dogs Trust Full time

About this role

We are seeking a Behaviour Training Officer to support our rehoming centres in the South East of England with their training and development needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Visit allocated rehoming centres twice monthly to conduct population overviews, case work, specialist staff mentoring, and development.
  • Deliver training sessions to colleagues in rehoming centres and online, reviewing staff development needs and identifying knowledge gaps, and then developing programs to address these needs.
  • Mentor, shadow, and coach colleagues in the region, providing on-the-job case support, informal and formal training.
  • Develop training materials, keeping up-to-date with the latest research and clinical practice to ensure content is relevant and high-quality.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will need to have an in-depth knowledge of dog behaviour and welfare, with lots of practical experience in the rescue and rehoming environment.

You will also need a track record of coaching, mentoring, and training others, ideally with experience of delivering on-the-job, informal and formal training.

Therefore, you will need excellent communication and people skills, and a genuine passion for animal welfare and rehoming.

About Our Team

Our Canine Behaviour team is dedicated to rehabilitating dogs within our rehoming centres and providing professional development opportunities for our staff.

We are committed to ensuring that our staff have access to the best possible education in the field, and we are looking for a Behaviour Training Officer to join our team and contribute to this mission.

About Dogs Trust

We are the UK's leading dog charity, helping 12,000 loyal friends find their forever homes every year.

We are passionate about animal welfare and rehoming, and we are committed to making a difference in the lives of dogs and their owners.
