Position Overview

NHS Scotland is seeking a dedicated and experienced senior pharmacist to enhance our pharmacy department. The ideal candidate will spearhead clinical pharmacy initiatives within the gastroenterology and inflammatory bowel disease sectors, aligning with our core principles of integrity, equity, excellence, and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

- Collaborate with the gastroenterology multidisciplinary team to create and implement a strategic vision for the service, adapting to the evolving healthcare landscape.

- Lead service development projects, demonstrating financial acumen and project management skills.

- Inspire and motivate pharmacy staff and colleagues across the hospital, serving as a role model for high-quality service delivery.

Qualifications and Experience

- A Master's degree in Pharmacy.

- Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council.

- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development as mandated by the General Pharmaceutical Council.

- Independent prescribing qualification with practical experience in its application.

- A minimum of six years in hospital pharmacy, with at least four years in a clinical or specialized area.

- Proficiency in monitoring therapeutic regimens to optimize patient outcomes and minimize adverse effects.

- Experience in providing training and education at a postgraduate level.

- Demonstrated ability to utilize clinical audits to enhance practice.

- Advanced clinical reasoning and judgment skills.

- Strong numerical, verbal, and written communication abilities.

- Capacity to meet deadlines and manage resources effectively.

- Willingness to participate in weekend and public holiday duties, as well as pharmacy emergency services if applicable.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in the gastroenterology specialty.

- Capability to serve as a pre-registration pharmacist tutor.

- Ability to influence senior pharmacy and medical staff, as well as the multidisciplinary team.

Employment Details

- Contract Type: Permanent

- Work Schedule: Full-time, 37 hours per week

Work Environment

This position will primarily be based within NHS Scotland facilities, with the flexibility to work across various sites as needed. The standard working hours for this role are Monday to Friday, from 8:50 AM to 5:00 PM.
