Position Overview

The primary focus of this role is to enhance clinical education and drive quality advancements in cancer care. The successful candidate will collaborate with local healthcare practices and teams to evaluate their operational methods and explore the adoption of innovative models aimed at improving cancer patient care. This position requires the ability to present compelling evidence and work in close partnership with local practices and clusters, necessitating exceptional facilitation and influencing capabilities.

It is anticipated that the individual in this role will possess, or swiftly acquire, insights into the latest trends from both international and national cancer research concerning early diagnosis, follow-up models, rehabilitation, and ongoing support for individuals affected by cancer.

Key Responsibilities

- Collaborate with local healthcare practices and clusters to advocate for and facilitate enhancements in the quality of care delivered to cancer patients within primary and community settings.

- Strengthen and support the educational growth and skill enhancement of primary care teams regarding comprehensive cancer care and survivorship by promoting pertinent courses, tools, and resources.

- Contribute to existing and new educational initiatives to broaden the primary care team's expertise.

- Utilize critical insights from the Wales Cancer Patient Experience Survey to inform discussions about service enhancements that benefit cancer patients.

- Enhance the availability of information for cancer patients and encourage GP practices to disseminate this information, thereby empowering patients with a better understanding of their conditions and treatments.

- Provide professional clinical leadership and guidance on relevant matters from a primary care viewpoint.

  • Qualified medical professional
  • Full registration with GMC without conditions

Experience and Knowledge

  • Must be a practising GP, Medical Consultant, or Specialty doctor
  • Proven ability to lead and collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams
