Role Summary

We are seeking a full-time consultant with a strong background in protection coordination and arc flash studies to enhance our team. This role involves delivering consulting services to the energy sector, with a focus on South Africa and the broader African continent. Candidates should be capable of working independently within a collaborative team of engineers, while also receiving support from our UK-based team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct protection coordination and arc flash studies.
  • Perform additional power system analyses, including grid code compliance and impact assessments.
  • Provide training and mentorship to junior staff.
  • Manage projects effectively, overseeing financial and resource allocation.
  • Maintain and develop relationships with existing clients while identifying new business opportunities.

Essential Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechatronic Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Progress towards registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineer.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Proficient problem-solving and negotiation skills.
  • Attention to detail and excellent organizational abilities.
  • Experience with network modeling and analysis software.
  • Familiarity with protection settings and arc flash studies.
  • Knowledge of the South African energy landscape and relevant regulations.

Desirable Attributes
  • Postgraduate qualifications in engineering.
  • Experience in substation design and commissioning.
  • Proficiency in project management and client engagement.
  • Commercial awareness and experience in proposal writing.
