Position Summary

As an Associate Engineer in our Power Systems division, you will collaborate with a diverse team of experts to deliver comprehensive energy solutions. You will serve as a key resource for power systems inquiries from various departments, including district energy, energy transition, and renewable energy initiatives. Our mission is to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of power systems worldwide, facilitating the transition to net-zero energy on constrained grids. We provide a range of services from feasibility assessments to detailed technical analyses tailored to client requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the primary expert on power systems for energy projects in the UK, contributing your knowledge throughout the project lifecycle;
  • Develop electrical designs during the feasibility phase for new connections or upgrades, including high voltage (HV) connections for energy centers and extra high voltage (EHV) connections for renewable projects;
  • Create connection strategies, perform high-level equipment sizing, and design single line diagrams and spatial layouts for new substations across various voltage levels (MV, HV, EHV);
  • Conduct technical reviews and prepare necessary documentation and studies;
  • Build and lead a team to support in-depth analysis of power systems as required;
  • Coordinate with other power systems teams globally to ensure project alignment;
  • Support energy master planning studies aimed at decarbonization by providing expert insights on future energy demands and feasibility assessments;
  • Stay informed on policy and regulatory changes affecting power systems solutions;
  • Assist in writing proposals and support business development efforts for power system clients;
  • Keep abreast of supplier developments, equipment lead times, and cost estimates for substations and new connections;
  • Conduct due diligence and Owner's Engineer activities for client projects;
  • Manage project bids and oversee projects throughout their lifecycle;
  • Stay updated on ancillary services available for industrial, renewable, and battery storage projects.

Candidate Profile

  • Experience in transmission, distribution, or consulting, particularly in infrastructure planning for power systems at various project stages;
  • Familiarity with grid code compliance requirements;
  • Ability to model new connection costs effectively;
  • Experience with DNO standards and reviewing single line diagrams;
  • Knowledge of energy network regulations and recent changes in business plans and connection charges;
  • Experience in conducting grid impact assessments for new projects.
