Position Overview

We are seeking a full-time Power Systems Consultant to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in power system analysis and will be responsible for delivering consulting services across the energy sector in South Africa and beyond. You will work independently within a local team of engineers, supported by our UK-based experts. This role offers the chance to engage in a variety of technical, strategic, and regulatory consultancy projects within a rapidly evolving industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct grid impact assessments and ensure compliance with grid codes for energy generation projects.
  • Perform power quality evaluations and investigations.
  • Engage in planning for transmission and distribution networks.
  • Oversee project management, including financial and resource allocation.
  • Maintain and foster relationships with existing clients while identifying opportunities for new client engagement.
Essential Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechatronic Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Progress towards registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineer.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to build long-term client relationships.
  • Excellent problem-solving and negotiation skills.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational capabilities.
  • Experience with network modeling and analysis using DIgSILENT PowerFactory or similar software.
  • Familiarity with South African transmission and distribution systems and current industry standards.
Desirable Skills
  • Postgraduate qualifications in engineering.
  • Experience in renewable energy project design and review.
  • Knowledge of energy efficiency and demand-side management.
  • Experience in writing proposals and negotiating terms with clients.
