Position Overview

The Community Neonatal Care Specialist will oversee a dedicated caseload, delivering exceptional specialized nursing care to infants with specific medical and nursing requirements in a community environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Foster collaborative relationships with nursing and medical personnel within the neonatal unit and the broader multidisciplinary team (MDT) to ensure smooth transitions from hospital to home.
  • Conduct clinical evaluations, develop care strategies, and maintain ongoing personalized action plans for each infant.
  • Champion the advancement of child-centered, family-oriented care practices.
  • Provide guidance, support, and educational resources to parents, caregivers, and fellow professionals.
  • Serve as a role model and expert practitioner in neonatal nursing.
  • Embrace a forward-thinking approach to the continuous enhancement of patient care through research and evidence-based methodologies.
  • Contribute to the formulation and refinement of policies, protocols, and standards within the neonatal care framework.

Essential Qualifications

  • Registered Children or Adult Nurse with a minimum of three years of post-registration experience in neonatal care.
  • Completion of a neonatal nursing course and commitment to ongoing professional development.

Desirable Skills

  • Proficiency in Welsh is advantageous; however, candidates fluent in English are also encouraged to apply.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities and experience in safeguarding practices.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Manage individual caseloads effectively, ensuring proactive child protection measures are in place.
  • Participate in child protection case discussions and provide necessary documentation as required.
  • Engage in the investigation of incidents and complaints, contributing to the development of best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant policies and procedures within the community neonatal team.
  • Oversee the procurement and maintenance of specialized equipment necessary for neonatal care.
  • Communicate effectively with all members of the multidisciplinary team to facilitate optimal patient outcomes.
  • Conduct risk assessments during home visits to ensure the safety of both the families and team members.
