Main Responsibilities
The Financial Operations Manager will serve as a financial partner for the Midlands RMX and HS2 sectors, delivering essential insights and challenging all facets of financial performance to enhance business outcomes.

  • Lead the business planning and reporting cycle for the Midlands RMX and HS2 sectors, including strategic plans, budgets, forecasts, and outlooks, ensuring alignment with regional and group reporting standards.
  • Support the Regional Head of Finance and management team in preparing five-year strategic plans and regional business strategies.
  • Contribute to the execution of the finance strategy aimed at enhancing financial controls, developing management information tools, and refining reporting practices.
  • Ensure the provision of accurate, timely, and compliant accounting information for the Midlands RMX and HS2 sectors, adhering to relevant accounting standards and regulations.
  • Oversee the preparation of accounts that meet company processes, procedures, and statutory obligations.
  • Act as a key member of the regional finance team, leading balance sheet reviews, controls, provisions, and reconciliations in collaboration with the Shared Service Centre.
  • Operate within a matrix structure, ensuring consistent management information for regional finance across designated functional areas.
  • Deliver comprehensive financial analysis to support the management team in making informed decisions that drive business performance.
  • Assist in optimizing cash flow by promptly resolving invoicing issues with clients and ensuring timely cash collection related to the HS2 program.


The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record in financial management, with operational and commercial experience in large, multi-site construction or manufacturing environments.

  • Fully qualified accountant with a solid understanding of complex organizations, key business challenges, and financial statements, controls, and processes.
  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with several years of post-qualification experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to cultivate and maintain relationships and networks.
  • Robust financial accounting background with relevant technical expertise.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure, demonstrating excellent planning skills to meet multiple deadlines.
  • Proficient in computer applications, with SAP/BW experience being advantageous.
