Position Overview:

We are seeking two dedicated 1:1 Support Specialists to provide individualized assistance to students with special educational needs. This role is crucial in fostering a supportive learning environment that promotes academic and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver tailored support to a student throughout the school day, addressing academic, physical, and emotional needs.
  • Work collaboratively with the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) and classroom educators to create an inclusive atmosphere.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of children and young individuals in your care.
  • Encourage high expectations and promote self-esteem and independence, providing constructive feedback on student progress under the guidance of the teacher.
  • Establish professional and nurturing relationships with students to enhance their engagement and sense of security in learning.
  • Contribute to the planning, evaluation, and assessment of activities, documenting and reporting on student development.
  • Conduct risk assessments for various activities and manage necessary compliance documentation.
  • Stay updated on educational regulations and best practices in special education.
  • Adhere to established policies, procedures, and the guidance provided by teaching staff.
  • Follow the organization's code of conduct diligently.

Required Skills:
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure in challenging situations.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and listening communication skills, with the capacity to convey tasks clearly.
  • Capability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a dedicated team.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and participation in relevant training.
  • Basic proficiency in information and communication technology.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • GCSE qualifications in literacy and numeracy, or equivalent.
  • Relevant certification or diploma in Childcare and Education or a recognized teaching assistant qualification.
  • Understanding of TEACCH principles.
  • Experience working with young learners.
  • Experience supporting individuals with significant learning challenges and/or behavioral difficulties.
  • Familiarity with educational regulations and standards.
  • Knowledge of child development principles.
