Your role:

  • The successful candidate will be tasked with overseeing initiatives that assist GMCA and Local Authorities in achieving their strategic objectives related to housing, regeneration, and investment. This position involves senior management of funding initiatives, project oversight of critical assignments, and utilizing a combination of technical and interpersonal skills.
  • The individual will provide leadership and be accountable for the daily management and execution of essential projects, coordinating resources to ensure comprehensive identification of project needs and resource allocations. They will ensure effective management of the work programme by employing project management methodologies and collaborating with relevant teams across Local Authorities, GMCA, and other key stakeholders.
  • This role will primarily focus on the coordination of the Growth Locations initiative, which is part of GMCA's strategy to facilitate the delivery of Greater Manchester's growth objectives. The Growth Locations signify opportunities for the entire city-region to advance development at a scale capable of driving significant transformation across the area. The emphasis will be on unlocking physical development while aligning with GM's broader economic, social, and environmental goals. Reporting to a Delivery Manager, the individual will be responsible for propelling the programme forward, managing performance reports, identifying and mitigating risks, and overseeing budgetary considerations.

About you:

  • Proven ability to operate at a senior level within a complex environment, fostering and maintaining effective relationships with diverse stakeholders from various organizations and cultures, ensuring that commitments are met and impacts are realized.
  • Extensive experience in programme management along with the development and monitoring of programme and project plans.
  • Strategic thinking and planning: adept at scoping, initiating, and managing projects with the confidence to apply methodologies and approaches suited to the task at hand. Capable of collaborating to convert strategic and conceptual ideas into actionable proposals and well-organized plans.
  • Investment: strong comprehension of the local and national investment landscape.
  • Effective partnership collaboration, team leadership, and experience in line management.
  • Through personal example, commitment, and decisive action, ensure that diversity is actively valued, leading to equitable access and treatment in employment, service delivery, and communication.
