Position Overview

Utility People Ltd is at the forefront of revolutionizing the electricity distribution framework in the Northern region of the UK, focusing on the implementation of Distribution System Operation (DSO) systems and processes essential for managing energy networks in a sustainable, net-zero carbon future. In line with this DSO transition initiative, we are in search of a seasoned Programme Coordinator to steer our delivery strategies. This role involves overseeing the monitoring and reporting of compliance to ensure the organization meets its responsibilities and regulatory obligations. As the Programme Owner, you will be responsible for the successful execution of all DSO-related projects, encompassing IT, business process modifications, commercial framework development, and providing expert project management support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to identify and map current processes that will be impacted by the new operating model.
  • Engage extensively across the organization and at an industry level, advocating for the company's interests in industry working groups and discussions with key stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the formulation of the DSO vision, strategy, and tactics, particularly focusing on engagement, commercial, and contractual aspects.
  • Oversee and assess performance in alignment with the DSO transition program and business plan objectives.
  • Lead the execution of DSO incentive performance, particularly in stakeholder engagement, including elements related to performance panels and stakeholder surveys.

Required Experience

  • In-depth knowledge of the commercial and contractual frameworks within the electricity sector, including connection and usage charging methodologies as outlined in the network or system license.
  • Exceptional project and program management capabilities.
  • Demonstrated experience in team management.
  • Management of substantial project finances, including operational and capital expenditure budgets.
  • A degree-level qualification or equivalent in a quantitative discipline, ideally complemented by a management qualification.
  • Extensive background in the utility sector with a comprehensive understanding of the electricity industry structure and regulations, including distribution regulatory contracts.
