About the Role

The Chief Underwriting Officer is a key position within the Underwriting Management function and the business as a whole. This is an expansive role with a diverse range of responsibilities and will include:

  • Guiding and reviewing improvements to procedures and methodologies
  • Leading enhancements and the development of products
  • Overseeing the controls framework and regulatory compliance requirements
  • Managing the underwriting audit function
  • Monitoring training needs and skills development
  • Ensuring effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Driving strategic portfolio management
  • Setting and delivering underwriting KPIs

About the Ideal Candidate

We are seeking an experienced professional with a strong background in the UK commercial underwriting market. The ideal candidate will have:

  • In-depth understanding and experience in the UK commercial underwriting market
  • Good knowledge of underwriting policies and procedures with first-hand experience of implementation of these
  • Proven expert knowledge of commercial insurance wordings, product development, underwriting, legal, and regulatory
  • Excellent collaboration skills, interpersonal skills, project management skills, analytical skills
  • Strong leadership and management experience
