Job Overview
Role Objective

To spearhead the collaborative efforts with Oyster design in the establishment and execution of a dependable and efficient resin infusion methodology. The primary aim is to successfully produce resin-infused hulls and decks, starting with the latest Oyster model and subsequently extending to existing designs.

Core Responsibilities

  • Cultivating and overseeing a dedicated team to form a specialized resin infusion unit.
  • Directing the development testing initiative in partnership with Oyster design.
  • Systematically documenting test outcomes.
  • Sourcing necessary materials, tools, and components.
  • Supervising the construction of testing apparatus and setups.
  • Compiling a comprehensive process manual for operational use and for other locations within the organization.
  • Drafting work instruction sheets (WIS) and detailed procedural guidelines.
  • Developing quality assurance documentation and manuals.
  • Collaborating closely with the Oyster Technology Centre (OTC) to standardize processes, materials, and enhance resin infusion techniques, ensuring the successful production of bulkheads and structural elements.
  • Providing insights on the design and fabrication of new mould tools.
  • Designing and implementing training programs for both existing and new personnel transitioning to resin infusion manufacturing.
  • Assisting mould shop managers as the resin infusion process is adopted across various sites and models.

Qualifications and Skills
Knowledge
  • Comprehensive understanding of resin infusion techniques applicable to both large and small components.
  • Familiarity with tooling design specific to resin infusion.
  • Strong grasp of vinyl ester resin component production.
  • Insight into composite lamination schematics.
  • Familiarity with Polyworx software functionalities is advantageous.
  • Awareness of a diverse range of infusion consumables and their appropriate applications.
  • Proficient in IT, with a solid command of Microsoft Office suite and Excel.
Skills
  • Excellent organizational abilities, including the procurement of necessary consumables for each component.
  • Capacity to adhere to precise instructions from the design team and provide feedback on observations during each infusion.
  • Capability to propose enhancements to existing processes.
  • Commitment to implementing safe working practices throughout all manufacturing phases.
Experience
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in a comparable role.
  • Previous background in leading, coaching, and mentoring operational teams.
Personal Attributes
  • Ability to strictly follow design instructions, crucial for the role due to extensive R&D validating the Polyworx software.
  • Strong communication skills with both design teams and shop floor personnel.
Additional Requirements
  • A valid driving license, as occasional travel between sites may be necessary.
