Job Overview
Role Objective

To spearhead the collaboration with Oyster design in the formulation and execution of a dependable and efficient resin infusion methodology. The primary aim is to successfully produce resin-infused hulls and decks, starting with the new Oyster model and subsequently extending to existing designs.

Core Responsibilities

  • Build and oversee a dedicated team focused on establishing a specialized resin infusion unit.
  • Coordinate the development testing initiative in partnership with Oyster design.
  • Maintain precise documentation of test outcomes.
  • Source necessary materials, tools, and components.
  • Supervise the construction of testing apparatus and platforms.
  • Develop a comprehensive process manual for operational use across various sites.
  • Generate detailed work instruction sheets (WIS) and sequential process guidelines.
  • Formulate quality assurance documents and manuals.
  • Collaborate closely with the Oyster Technology Centre (OTC) to standardize procedures, materials, and enhance resin infusion techniques, ensuring the effective production of bulkheads and structural elements.
  • Provide guidance on the design and fabrication of new mould tools.
  • Design and implement training programs for both new and existing personnel transitioning to resin infusion manufacturing.
  • Support mould shop managers as the resin infusion technique is adopted across different sites and models.

Qualifications and Skills
Knowledge
  • In-depth understanding of resin infusion techniques applicable to both large and small components.
  • Familiarity with tooling design specifics tailored for resin infusion.
  • Strong grasp of vinyl ester resin component production.
  • Comprehension of composite lamination schematics.
  • Knowledge of Polyworx software functionalities is advantageous.
  • Awareness of a diverse range of infusion consumables and their appropriate applications.
  • Proficient in IT, with a solid command of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.

Skills
  • Excellent organizational abilities, including the procurement of necessary consumables for each component.
  • Capacity to adhere to precise instructions from the design team and provide constructive feedback during each infusion.
  • Aptitude for proposing enhancements to existing processes.
  • Commitment to ensuring safe working practices throughout all manufacturing phases.

Experience
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in a comparable role.
  • Background in leading, coaching, and mentoring operational teams.

Personal Attributes
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions from design, crucial for validating our Polyworx software.
  • Strong communication skills, facilitating effective interaction with both design teams and shop floor personnel.

Additional Requirements
  • Valid driving license, as occasional travel between sites may be necessary.
