hythe, United Kingdom Energy Solutions (UK) Ltd Full time

*There is also the potential for this role to be based in New Milton, Hampshire

Purpose and Scope

Energy Solutions is a leading provider of fully integrated power, monitoring, and control systems in the marine, vehicle, and off-grid markets. Our innovative solutions have given focus for many years towards a sustainable and resilient energy future with hybrid renewable energy systems (HRES) gaining more attraction to our clients.

Established for 30 years, our success has been achieved because of our people and their innovation continues to drive us forward. We research, design and manufacture in-house, and boast an exceptionally talented team, providing solutions in diverse markets across the UK and internationally.

Marine is Energy Solutions’ longest-established market area, and we are looking for a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to help propel our team forward during a time of exciting growth.

You will be driven by this opportunity to get stuck in and share your technical know-how and extensive proven industry experience.

You will:

Create, improve and develop complex hybrid systems.

Be project focussed, liaise with mechanical and control system engineers to deliver technically advanced solutions.

Work with the rest of the engineering department to ensure companywide efficiencies through improvements in processes, material selection and technology.

Understand and work on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.

Frequently advise others on complex matters, often acting as a mentor for less experienced members of the team

If you are looking for an opportunity to make your mark and play a key role in moving our business forwards, this could be just the role for you

Duties and Responsibilities

As an experienced electrical design engineer, you will have direct technical responsibility for our larger hybrid projects – both land and marine based systems, typically focussed around Danfoss drive technology.

You will also be called on for your input, knowledge, and experience on other projects within the business.

The job will be office based but there will be a need to travel (infrequently) to customers based in the UK and abroad (mainly in Europe) to troubleshoot existing, and commission new systems.

Requirements for the Role

Qualifications and experience

A degree in electrical engineering (and significant relatable experience), a relevant master’s degree or PhD would be an advantage.

Demonstrable advanced wide-ranging experience, using in-depth professional knowledge, acumen, concepts and company objectives to develop, resolve complex models and procedures.

Marine/yachting experience would be beneficial

Ideally, working experience with drive technology

Ideally, working experience with battery systems, typically in the 300 – 700V range

Knowledge and technical skills

Display an extensive working knowledge of E-Plan (AutoCAD for legacy projects)

Evidence of designing electrical control panels and switchgear

Working knowledge of setup and commissioning complex systems, working alongside control engineers and others.

Other requirements

A keenness to collaborate and work across teams

A systematic way of working, with an eye for detail, documentation, and process
