Job Overview
Role Objective

To spearhead the collaboration with Oyster design in the establishment and execution of a dependable and efficient resin infusion methodology. The primary aim is to successfully produce resin-infused hulls and decks, starting with the latest Oyster model and subsequently extending to existing designs.

Core Responsibilities

  • Build and oversee a dedicated team focused on resin infusion.
  • Coordinate the development of testing protocols in partnership with Oyster design.
  • Ensure precise documentation of testing outcomes.
  • Source necessary materials, tools, and components.
  • Supervise the construction of testing setups and platforms.
  • Develop a comprehensive process manual for operational use across various sites.
  • Create detailed work instruction sheets and procedural guidelines.
  • Establish quality assurance documentation and manuals.
  • Collaborate closely with the Oyster Technology Centre to standardize processes and enhance resin infusion techniques for the effective production of structural components.
  • Provide guidance on the design and fabrication of new mould tools.
  • Design and implement training programs for both new and existing staff transitioning to resin infusion manufacturing.
  • Support mould shop managers as the resin infusion process is adopted across additional sites and models.

Qualifications and Skills

Knowledge
  • In-depth understanding of resin infusion techniques applicable to both large and small components.
  • Familiarity with tooling design specific to resin infusion.
  • Strong grasp of vinyl ester resin manufacturing processes.
  • Comprehension of composite lamination schematics.
  • Knowledge of Polyworx software is advantageous.
  • Awareness of various infusion consumables and their appropriate applications.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and Excel.

Skills
  • Excellent organizational abilities, including the procurement of necessary consumables.
  • Capacity to adhere to precise instructions from the design team and provide feedback during the infusion process.
  • Aptitude for proposing enhancements to existing procedures.
  • Commitment to implementing safe working practices throughout all manufacturing phases.

Experience
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in a comparable role.
  • Background in leading, coaching, and mentoring operational teams.

Personal Attributes
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions from design, crucial for validating the Polyworx software.
  • Strong communication skills for effective interaction with both design teams and shop floor personnel.

Additional Requirements
  • Valid driving license, as occasional travel between sites may be necessary.
