Role Overview:

The Medical Advisor role is meticulously crafted to address the intricate technical information requirements of our Medical Affairs teams. By adhering to all regulatory frameworks, procedures, and laws, Medical Advisors demonstrate sound judgment. They gather and relay critical feedback and insights, fostering scientific dialogue between the industry and the medical community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and effectively communicate comprehensive scientific knowledge
  • Medical Advisors are expected to engage in ongoing education to uphold the highest level of expertise in their therapeutic area, establishing themselves as trusted sources of accurate and current medical and scientific information.
  • Excel in client engagement and support scientific information needs of experts
  • This position entails extensive field-based interactions, fostering meaningful discussions with Scientific Experts. Through emotional intelligence and a deep understanding of client needs, Medical Advisors serve as essential liaisons between Lilly's medical professionals and experts, ensuring exceptional customer experiences.
  • Strategic vision and leadership
  • Medical Advisors analyze complex data and effectively communicate significant clinical insights and unresolved inquiries from Scientific Experts to Lilly's medical and cross-functional teams. They employ innovative problem-solving skills and leverage internal resources to implement effective solutions.
  • Territory management
  • Medical Advisors are expected to demonstrate strategic analysis, territory mapping, planning, and prioritization to enhance efficiency. They will develop and evaluate a strategic territory plan focusing on core Medical Advisor activities and take personal responsibility for outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Health Sciences (PharmD, MD, or PhD in a medically related field) with a minimum of two (2) years of relevant clinical or therapeutic experience preferred.
  • Masters or Bachelor's degree in Health Sciences (e.g., BSN, RPh, PA, NP) considered with at least five (5) years of clinical, research, or industry experience.
  • This field-based role requires up to 80% travel and work on 4 to 6 weekends annually. Applicants must reside near a transportation hub.
  • Intellectual curiosity in the field of science/medicine for which they are responsible.
  • Learning agility and intellectual curiosity in the field of Science/Medicine, comprehending and effectively communicating vast amounts of complex scientific content.
  • Ability to work independently and remotely, efficiently managing multiple priorities and projects.
  • Share scientific and customer data through advanced presentations and exhibit a high level of computer skills with expertise in literature identification.
  • Effective strategic and critical thinking enabling analysis, assessment, and evaluation of information to interpret the impact or relevance to future outcomes.
  • Proficiency in utilizing field-based electronic or other communication tools for all job aspects is imperative.
  • Resilience in handling complex challenges.
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills, featuring high emotional intelligence and the ability to engage in professional relationship-building and networking.

Additional Skills/Preferences:

  • Familiarity with health systems, academic communities, medical research, and the medical education process is highly regarded.
  • ABPI code examination to be completed within one (1) year.
