We are seeking a qualified individual to join our Model Development division at Moody's RMS, recognized as the premier provider of quantitative models concerning the financial implications of natural disasters.

Position Title: Hydrological Model Specialist

Company: Moody's

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the creation of an extensive hydrologic and hydraulic flood simulation model
  • Enhance flood risk models utilizing cutting-edge scientific methodologies
  • Calibrate and verify model elements with empirical data
  • Assess final model results and convey insights to relevant stakeholders
  • Investigate and apply innovative scientific methods to refine models

Required Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in a pertinent discipline or a robust Master's degree with relevant experience
  • Expertise in scientific programming languages
  • Exceptional analytical capabilities and strong communication skills

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with Machine Learning approaches for environmental data
  • Experience handling extensive climate model datasets
  • Comprehension of data assimilation, GIS applications, and statistical principles
