Position Overview

Velindre University NHS Trust is looking to recruit a Clinical Support Coordinator, who will oversee the professional management and leadership of services within the Velindre University and the South East Wales region. This role encompasses regulatory accountability for the clinical support services provided by Velindre University NHS Trust. Additionally, the Coordinator will contribute to the Trust's corporate objectives and represent the organization at a national level on clinical support matters. A significant aspect of this position is to foster a culture of innovation and excellence.

Key Responsibilities

The role includes both undergraduate and postgraduate educational responsibilities. Velindre is recognized as a training center for Clinical Support and collaborates closely with local universities to offer relevant academic programs. The Coordinator will lead initiatives in clinically focused research and development, securing funding from external sources and supervising postgraduate research students. Collaborative research programs will be conducted with higher education institutions both nationally and internationally.

Proficiency in Welsh is preferred for this position; applications are welcome from both Welsh and English speakers.

Person Specification Qualifications and Knowledge Essential Criteria
  • Consultant Clinical Scientist status.
  • State Registered Clinical Scientist.
  • Relevant professional qualifications and experience.
  • PhD in a relevant scientific discipline.
  • State Registration with the Health & Care Professions Council.
  • Fellowship of a recognized professional body.
  • In-depth theoretical and practical knowledge in specialized areas.
  • Understanding of the role of clinical support in cancer therapy.
  • Familiarity with national and international guidelines.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and standards.
Desirable Criteria
