Position Overview

The Capital, Estates and Facilities Directorate is seeking a proactive and driven individual to join the Capital Planning and Development Department as a Facilities Project Coordinator.

In this role, you will oversee a team responsible for executing and sourcing Minor Works initiatives, which encompass modifications and renovations throughout the healthcare facilities. Your efforts will align with organizational goals and enhance the overall experience for patients, staff, and visitors. Collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders will be essential to ensure the effective execution of each Minor Works project and associated programs, with a focus on harmonizing activities with healthcare, research, and commercial obligations.

Key Responsibilities

- Assume primary responsibility and accountability for the successful execution of minor works projects within the Estates and Facilities Directorate.

- Ensure that all minor works projects are completed professionally, adhering to established timelines and budgetary constraints.

- Coordinate minor works projects within existing facilities to minimize disruption.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential Qualifications

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in building, engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional accreditation in building or quantity surveying.
  • A postgraduate certificate in management.

Essential Experience

  • Extensive experience in the building industry, including supervisory roles.
  • Proven track record in managing NHS capital and construction projects.
  • Experience in overseeing external teams and contractors.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects through their entire lifecycle.
  • Experience in conducting feasibility studies and investment appraisals.
  • Collaborative experience within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proven ability to deliver projects on time and within budget.

Knowledge and Skills

Essential Knowledge

  • In-depth understanding of Health and Safety regulations.
  • Familiarity with current Department of Health guidelines.
  • Knowledge of construction methods and procedures.

Essential Skills

  • Strong people management and communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret complex technical drawings.
  • Capacity to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proficient in CAD and construction-related software.
