Position Overview

At Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People, we empower families to navigate their child's care in a personalized manner. Our services encompass pain relief, play therapy, and emotional support, delivered in the comfort of their homes.

Key Responsibilities

We are in search of a dedicated Community Play Facilitator to become a vital member of our vibrant team. This role involves providing therapeutic and recreational play activities for infants, children, and adolescents receiving end-of-life care at Rainbows. You will play a crucial role in creating cherished memories for these young individuals and their families. While your primary location will be at our hospice, this position requires travel to various community settings, including family residences across multiple counties.

About the Role

The Community Play Facilitator will be responsible for:

  • Designing, implementing, and assessing individualized activity programs for children and young people in both home and community settings.
  • Supporting family members in creating memorable experiences through specialized play activities.
  • Providing guidance and resources to families regarding therapeutic play.
  • Engaging in sensitive discussions with families about end-of-life care, offering recommendations for suitable activities.

Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following essential criteria:

  • Fully qualified Health Play Specialist, registered with the appropriate professional body.
  • Experience working with infants, children, and young people across all age groups.
  • Experience with children and young people who have complex and/or palliative care needs.
  • Willingness to travel throughout the designated regions and access rural locations.

Essential Qualifications

To excel in this role, candidates should possess:

  • A Foundation Degree in Healthcare Play Specialism, registered with the relevant professional body.
  • Experience with children of all ages (0-18 years).
  • Experience with children who have complex and/or palliative care needs.
  • Strong communication skills with children, young people, and families.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding practices.
  • Valid UK driving license and access to a vehicle.
