Children 1st - Child Advocacy and Trauma Support Specialist
Be a catalyst for positive change for young victims and witnesses in Scotland
In collaboration with various authorities across Scotland, Children 1st is pioneering the Bairns Hoose initiative, inspired by the European Barnahus model. This innovative approach provides a child-centered, multidisciplinary, and interagency framework for justice, care, and recovery for children who have experienced various forms of violence. It creates a safe environment where Police, Social Work, Health, and Court services operate in unison. Children benefit from a coordinated trauma-informed strategy that supports their navigation through the care, protection, and justice systems. The model aims to prevent re-traumatization due to fragmented investigations and court processes, ensuring children remain safe, receive equitable justice, and begin to heal from their experiences.
This role presents an exciting opportunity to contribute to our Bairns Hoose initiative in West Lothian.
The establishment of Bairns Hoose throughout Scotland is designed to prioritize the best interests of children, ensuring that all systems in place to protect them are aligned and that children, along with their families or caregivers, receive comprehensive support.
