We are seeking a dedicated Band 5 Palliative Care Staff Nurse to become part of our Charity funded Inpatient Hospice. Our facility features an 18-bed inpatient unit, a Day Centre, and a community team committed to delivering exceptional standards of palliative care within a multidisciplinary framework. We cater to individuals facing cancer, HIV, and other life-limiting conditions, along with their significant others.

Patients are admitted to our Specialist Palliative Care In-Patient Unit for comprehensive assessment, symptom management, terminal care, rehabilitation, respite care, and medical interventions, drawing from a wide catchment area.

This position is ideally suited for an experienced Palliative Care Nurse with a background in either a Hospice or Hospital setting. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in mentoring staff and training junior team members.

Located in a serene environment, our independent private Hospital has recently been recognized for excellence in care. Uniquely, all profits generated support our onsite Hospice.

Main Responsibilities of the Palliative Care Staff Nurse:

• Uphold continuous high standards of skilled nursing care and professional practice through evidence-based methodologies.

• Foster a progressive approach to the ongoing enhancement of patient care through research and evidence-based practices.

• Serve as a role model and expert clinical practitioner, supervising and educating both trained staff and student nurses.

• Assist the Ward Manager in all aspects of leadership and management within the hospice inpatient unit.

• Contribute to the coordination of services offered by the inpatient unit and support the daily operations of the service.

• Experience at Band 5 or higher in specialist palliative care or oncology.

• Proven practice that is evidence-based and current.

• Experience in identifying and managing risks within your practice.

• Proven ability to support junior or less experienced staff.

• Strong assertive communication skills.

• Capability to conduct audits in an objective and efficient manner.
