Palliative Care Nurse

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Palliative Care Nurse to join our team at The Hospital of St John & St Elizabeth. As a Staff Nurse in our Hospice, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to patients with life-limiting illnesses.
Main Responsibilities
- Deliver skilled nursing care to patients, ensuring their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs are met.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of individualized care plans, working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team.
- Supervise and mentor junior staff members, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous learning.
- Assist the Ward Manager in leadership and management of the hospice in-patient unit, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, identifying areas for enhancement and contributing to evidence-based practice.
Requirements
- Experience in specialist palliative care or oncology, with a strong understanding of evidence-based practice.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, demonstrating effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in mentoring and supervising junior staff, with a focus on professional development and growth.
- Ability to identify and mitigate risks, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for patients and staff.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct audits and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
