## Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Palliative Care Nurse to join our team at St John and St Elizabeth Hospital. As a Staff Nurse in our Inpatient Hospice Unit, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to patients with complex needs.

## Key Responsibilities

* Provide skilled nursing care to patients with palliative care needs
* Promote a progressive attitude to the continual improvement of patient care through research and evidence-based practice
* Supervise and teach both trained staff, healthcare assistants, and student nurses
* Assist the Ward Manager in all aspects of leadership and management of the hospice in-patient unit
* Assist in the coordination of services provided by the inpatient unit, and contribute to the day-to-day running of the service

## Person Specification

* Experience at Band 5 or above in specialist palliative care or oncology
* Demonstrable practice that is evidence-based and up to date
* Experience of identifying and dealing with risks encountered within own practice
* Experience of supporting junior/less experienced staff
* Able to use assertive communication skills
* Able to conduct audits in an objective and efficient manner
