We are seeking a dedicated Band 5 Palliative Care Staff Nurse to join our esteemed Charity-funded Inpatient Hospice. Our facility features an 18-bed inpatient unit, a Day Centre, and a community team committed to delivering exceptional standards of palliative care within a multidisciplinary framework. We cater to individuals facing cancer, HIV, and other life-limiting conditions, along with their significant others.

Patients are admitted to our Specialist Palliative Care In-Patient Unit for various services, including assessment, symptom management, terminal care, rehabilitation, respite care, and medical interventions, serving a broad catchment area.

This position is ideal for an experienced Palliative Care Nurse with a background in either hospice or hospital settings. The successful candidate will have a history of mentoring staff and training junior team members.

Located in a serene environment, our independent private hospital has recently been recognized for excellence in care. All profits generated support our onsite Hospice.

Main Responsibilities of the Palliative Care Staff Nurse:

• Deliver continuous high-quality nursing care and uphold professional standards through evidence-based practices.

• Foster a culture of continuous improvement in patient care through research and evidence-based methodologies.

• Serve as a role model and expert clinical practitioner, supervising and educating both trained staff and healthcare assistants.

• Assist the Ward Manager in leadership and management responsibilities within the hospice inpatient unit.

• Contribute to the coordination of services offered by the inpatient unit and support the daily operations of the service.

• Experience at Band 5 or higher in specialist palliative care or oncology.

• Proven practice that is evidence-based and current.

• Ability to identify and manage risks within your practice.

• Experience in supporting junior or less experienced staff.

• Strong assertive communication skills.

• Competence in conducting audits in an objective and efficient manner.
