Position Overview

Fixed Term Contract Opportunity

We are pleased to announce a vacancy for a Band Higher Assistant Psychologist within our evolving Forensic Psychiatry Community Service. This role is offered on a full-time fixed term basis.

Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust is one of the leading providers of specialized mental health and learning disability services in the East of England. We collaborate with various partners to ensure a seamless care pathway that is accessible and community-focused.

This advanced service comprises multi-disciplinary teams located within the region, dedicated to supporting adults with mental health conditions and/or learning disabilities who pose a risk of significant harm to others. Our goal is to effectively manage risk and reduce the likelihood of re-offending.

By working closely with each individual, we create personalized care plans that address their unique needs. Our service adopts a compassionate and trauma-informed approach, promoting recovery and relapse prevention, thereby empowering individuals to achieve their full potential and lead meaningful lives within the community.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will receive supervision to aid in the development of psychological case formulations, including CFT, CBT, DBT, and trauma-focused therapies, as well as enhanced risk assessment tools.

Additionally, there will be opportunities to conduct psycho-educational sessions for service users and provide supportive activities for the staff team, including training and supervision. This position also offers insights into multi-agency risk management processes and a broader understanding of services available for this client group through participation in reviews and clinical discussions.

Furthermore, the role includes various clinically related administrative and audit responsibilities. The post-holder will work independently under the guidance of a qualified psychologist, adhering to the team's policies and procedures.

Service Objectives

  • Facilitate the shortest possible transition from inpatient to community care.
  • Ensure a robust discharge process through a collaborative wrap-around service.
  • Deliver a comprehensive care pathway centered around individual needs.

Joining our experienced multidisciplinary team, which includes psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, support workers, and administrators, you will contribute to our shared commitment to providing high-quality care and treatment for service users with forensic backgrounds.
